We have been making our own soap since 2013 using baking dishes and boxes as the molds. It does work, but we wanted to make some nice soap molds that we could rely on. I looked around on youtube and this video from Rob’s Garage Woodworking is the design that I used. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGOa8LeGMRI Each mold
We thought we did well with bell peppers last year, but we ran out quickly. We usually dice and freeze them at the end of the season. Well, this year we have vowed to plant more and try to grow enough to last the year. We have over 3 dozen pepper plants growing in the
We bought 12 Elderberry cuttings from riverhillsharvest.com. We purchased 4 cuttings each of Ranch, Bob Gordon, and Wyldewood1 cultivars. You can learn more about elderberry from Doug and Stacy on Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FTntso3V0A Elderberry cuttings are in water, but will go in the ground as soon as we are in no danger of frost. We finally have asparagus stalks coming up (about 10 stalks so far). This is only their second year and it’s recommended to harvest lightly this year. We planted one bed each of red and green asparagus, but I forgot which cultivars we planted at the moment. Red Asparagus

We have been working on a no-knead bread recipe that we can make with minimal effort and few ingredients. This bread is SO much better than any store bought bread we’ve ever tasted, and it costs less than $1.50/loaf to make. We’ve had success baking this in our tiny propane oven in a 12” or
Our gardening is pretty much done for this year, but surprisingly there are still broccoli, cabbage, kale, spinach, cauliflower and lots of cilantro still slowly growing. In March of this year we started weighing our garden harvests and keeping a simple log that includes the date, fruit/vegetable, and weight of everything we harvested. We currently
We finally got enough cedar milled to start covering the walls of the workshop. My dad took these pictures while he’s been helping. We have two of the four walls done except for windows and doors.
We got our first harvest of broccoli from our fall garden. We’ve never grown it before, and are completely impressed. It’s so much sweeter than store-bought – as is true with most everything we grow ourselves. We have lots more coming, along with three different types of cabbage and some cauliflower. The garden looks a
