We create our own compost every year for our garden. We also collect horse manure by the pickup truck load from neighbors and let it age for months before use in our garden beds. Our garden soil looks great and we usually grow nice healthy plants, but we thought we could do better. I ran across this 2006 article in Mother Earth News about a Complete Organic Fertilizer that we could make ourselves using nitrogen rich seed meal as an inexpensive base (among other ingredients) from the local feed store. We have applied this to all our garden beds and containers. Here is the article so you can make it yourself:
