2017 Garden Harvest Summary

Our gardening is pretty much done for this year, but surprisingly there are still broccoli, cabbage, kale, spinach, cauliflower and lots of cilantro still slowly growing. In March of this year we started weighing our garden harvests and keeping a simple log that includes the date, fruit/vegetable, and weight of everything we harvested. We currently have about 1/5 of an acre fenced in with about 20 raised beds, and one 12 x 7 foot 3-season greenhouse. We know that we can get a lot more production out of this space as we learn, observe, and implement our experiences into the garden, but here are some of the top producing foods by weight (lbs) that we harvested this year:

Tomatoes
267.0
Mixed Greens (kale, lettuce, spinach, chard, etc.)
64.85

Our total harvest for the garden from March to the end of December was just over 700 lbs. We didn’t use any chemical pesticides, or artificial fertilizers.

For 2018 we hope to start harvesting some of our new perennial crops including Asparagus, Strawberries, Grapes, Apples, and Pears.
