Sam Carrillo (Sarah’s son) and his friend Sam Oleson, both from Arizona, are off to hike on the Appalachian Trail this Summer. They started the approach trail at Amicalola Falls on the morning of June 1. They are as prepared as any 19 and 20 year olds can be, with lots of help from their parents. We will be supplying the majority of their food – we will dehydrate and bag lots of pasta and rice dishes – and send them resupply boxes along their journey. They hope to make it to Front Royal, VA by the end of the summer and then decide if they have the gumption (and cash) to go farther. This is the adventure of a lifetime (when you’re only 20 years old!).
