Winter Turnip Harvest

Our turnips were damaged a little bit by temperatures in the teens, but they had bounced back before Sarah recently pulled them all. We like to bake them for an hour at 350 degrees in a greased Pyrex dish with carrots, onion, parsnips, potatoes and any other root crop for an amazing supper. Sarah sometimes serves them on a bed of greens with an avocado dressing that is tasty.

Sarah pulling the Turnips
It is winter and the chickens are really hungry for any greens they can find. We just pulled our turnips, but Sarah doesn’t really like the taste of the greens , so rather than throw them in the compost bin we let the chickens  have them.
