Simple DIY Firewood Storage Rack

We heat the house with a wood stove, so I’m frequently stacking or splitting wood. We have a couple years of wood already cut and covered, but I’ve been working in the back of the property and needed another place to store firewood. We have termites really bad here, so it’s important to store any untreated wood up off the ground.

I used 3 rows of 3 cinder blocks with the holes facing up/down. Then I laid cedar boards on top of the cinder blocks leaving the holes open so I could put small cedar logs in each for my side support. No screws or nails needed. It works really well and is very economical. The one pictured should hold just over 1 chord of firewood, but the basic design could scale up to hold much more. Now, I just need to fill it up and cover with a tarp.

Our stove is tiny…to match our house, so each log is cut to about 10 inches long.
