In March my dad and I put out 3 honey bee swarm traps at my parents’ property. My dad has been watching the traps and recently said he’s seen activity at all 3 traps. Sarah and I went over today to check the traps and found that 2 of the three traps have a colony of bees that have moved in. Now we need to get them into proper Layens hives at our place.
(I really don’t like the term ‘swarm trap’. It seems like I’m doing something nefarious. I picture an animal with its foot caught in a metal claw. I’d like to think the bees are getting a home far better than a hollowed out tree, and they get us to look over them.)
