Starting Pepper Seeds In January

We have tried growing bell peppers from seed for a couple years and we can never get them to consistently germinate because it is too cold. We would end up buying seedlings, which can be pretty expensive compared to the cost of seeds. This year we are trying out a 10 x 20.75 inch seedling heating mat with thermostat and a 30 watt LED grow light. Once the seeds germinate we will supply 16 hours of light…if all goes according to plan.  We have about 100 pepper seeds in that one tray.

The heating mat uses only 18 watts of power and perfectly covers one entire tray.
