Dehydrating Meals for Summer 2016 Hiking

Sarah and both her sons ( Ben and Sam) are planning to hike a section of the Appalachian Trail together this summer. We are starting meal preparation with the food dehydrator.We store single servings of each meal using a Food Saver Vacuum Sealer. I will ship them meals to post offices or hostel/hotel locations along the trail.  I will post our favorite hiking meals throughout the summer.

It was 3 years ago this summer that Sarah, Ben and I hiked a section of the A.T. You can see some pictures of our hike here.

Tomatoes dehydrating for 5 hours at 150 degrees.Once they are dry they will be ground to a powder in the blender for easier adding to couscous, soups, and chili.
