Tomato Harvest

When I was a kid I didn’t eat tomatoes on their own. I thought they tasted funny and when I cut into them I thought they looked like they weren’t done yet. All those seeds suspended in the gelatinous goo just didn’t look appealing. Since then my taste buds have changed and so has my attitude about different foods. The tomatoes we’ve harvested are delicious and each variety has its own unique taste. They seem to have much more flavor than grocery store tomatoes and we know that they haven’t been sprayed with chemicals.

From left to right the four varieties we are growing this year are; Brandywine, Eva Purple Ball, Glacier, and Dr. Carolyn.

The first Brandywine we’ve harvested.

The first Brandywine cut into large slices and topped with mozzarella, basil, Italian seasoning then broiled for just a few minutes, and finally top with a little balsamic vinegar….Yumm!
