Sarah’s BFF from Phoenix, AZ came to visit in late June. We picked her up in Nashville and she was on the homestead for one day before she and Sarah took off for Englewood, FL to see Sarah’s family and frolic in the sun and sea for a week. When they returned, Kim got a real sense of the “simple” life. I think she enjoyed herself as she has made retirement plans to convert our pole barn into her forest cottage. It was wonderful making memories!
Ten pounds of blueberries picked at Loren’s parent’s house. Kim worked on this bucket for about 20 minutes before retiring under the shade of a nearby walnut tree claiming “It’s WAY too humid to pick blueberries.” or some such nonsense, as if we could pick them inside somewhere. She promptly moved back to the house to watch me finish picking, Loren finish watering the plants and flowers, and Loren’s brother finish mowing from the safety and comfort of the air conditioned house. Smh, that’s my city BFF!
Life on the homestead is so egg-citing! Here’s Kim gathering eggs for the photo-op.
We had more chicklets hatch on the day Kim arrived from Phoenix. Here she is with a 10-day old chick – just a little nervous about dropping him 🙂
